A great article from Matt where he explains how the Kaizen approach to project management (small ongoing positive changes which can reap significant improvements) started for him in social work. And how this small incremental change approach underpins not only his work but everything in life. With the added bonus of nostalgic 'noughties' era photos, this is well worth a read!
On a similar note of how small changes can lead to big differences, this recent post on Linkedin made me think about how we frame Diversity, equity and inclusion conversations. How would our conversations change if rather than focusing on who is under represented in our workplaces, we changed our focus to think about which groups are 'over represented', and what the reasons behind this could be. An interesting post and it's always useful to take some time to think in a different way.
This article comes from Joe (Head of Basis) and Tom Alexander (Assistant Director for Improvement and Change at the London Borough of Newham). Their reflection and insight into the subject of scarcity makes a great read, especially from Joe's perspective and experiences of running Basis, and Tom's perspective of scarcity in local government.
Here's an article from Matt, published in The Hague Humanity Hub. He explains what a 'Get it Done Day' is and how it can help small organisations work impactfully and collaboratively.
One of the challenges Rees McCann’s clients often have is this one: how to generate creative collaboration remotely, when some of the participants are at a massive digital disadvantage. If your meetings often have participants in lower-income countries, as many of our humanitarian and social impact clients do, you’ll know all about this stuff.
